Visa
Students do not require a visa from the following countries: the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland.
As a foreign student coming from a so-called third country, you must apply for either a Long-term Visa for the Purpose of Studies or for a Long-term Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies. You cannot enter the country without a valid visa and passport.
Information on the different types of visa can be found on the official portal of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.

- If you are preparing to study an accredited study programme at a university (organised by a public university, under a European Union programme or on the basis of an international agreement). This can be both vocational and language training.
How long is this visa issued for?
- For a maximum period of 1 year.
- If you want to stay in the Czech Republic for more than one year, you must apply for a Long-term Residence permit. This is valid for up to 2 years and then can be extended again for 2 years.
